Vandalism at Clubhouse

December 16, 2003

Neighbors,

As I had mentioned in my last letter, there have been a few isolated incidents of theft and vandalism over the past several weeks. Unfortunately, the Clubhouse was vandalized sometime late Sunday night or Monday. There was significant damage done to some doors and to some walls. A sofa was also destroyed as well as two Christmas trees and their decorations. A Police report was filed and evidence left at the scene is being processed to find the vandal(s). The Police suggested that it was probably teenagers. There was well over $1000.00 worth of damage done which makes it a felony. The CNA Board has met and we have some plans in place to help prevent this from happening again.

  • A security system.
  • Motion detector lighting both in and around the Clubhouse and pool.
  • A request has been placed for more Police patrols.
  • Revitalizing the "Neighborhood Watch" program.

What can we do as neighbors?

  • First and foremost, let's watch out for our immediate neighbors and our property. Ask questions and be involved.
  • Attention should be paid to our children's activities and whereabouts.
  • Secure your home, including your garage.
  • Help with the "Neighborhood Watch" program. This program has died out over the past few years. Volunteer to monitor the neighborhood on specific nights. We are working on putting this plan in place asap. The more volunteers the better. Working in groups and/or pairs. Please reach out to the Board if you are interested.

I am disappointed that this has happened. However, after talking with the Police, I feel very confident that the vandal(s) will be caught and prosecuted. If, indeed, it is a resident of Copperfield, I would hope that they would come forward so that we could discuss the options for restitution.

A REWARD IS BEING OFFERED IN THE AMOUNT OF $100.00 FOR ANY INFORMATION THAT WOULD LEAD TO THE ARREST OF THE VANDAL(S).

Copperfield is a great place to live and call home. As isolated as this is we must take the appropriate actions to help prevent any such further occurrences.
