Copperfield Neighborhood Residents

Letter of communication from the Facilities Committee

Dear Neighbor,

The Copperfield Facilities Committee wanted to take this time to communicate with our neighborhood and let everyone know what we are trying to address this coming year as issues of the community owned facilities.  We want to start with a simple clarification as to the responsibility of this committee as stated in our bylaws.

The Facilities Committee is responsible for the upkeep and management of all the facilities owned by the Neighborhood, including the pool, pool grounds, and other neighborhood common areas such as front entrance and islands.  The committee works closely with the CNA board to address the needs of the properties and makes recommendations to the Board for all expenditures relating to the maintenance of the properties.  The Facilities Committee is fully responsible for the operation and maintenance of the pool and pool related areas, including all the financial responsibility as well.

This responsibility being understood, we are reaching out to our members for help.  We have several important matters to deal with this year and want more input and involvement from everyone.

We want to form sub-committees to focus on the following areas:

1)  Playground evaluation and development.

2)  Landscaping.

3)  Property repair.

4)  Fund Raising.

5)  Volunteer Coordinator

If you have any interest in serving in these areas please notify a member of our committee.

We are planning a few fund raising activities to take care of some immediate needs in relation to the pool.  We are having a follow-up garage sale to the neighborhood garage sale on Friday the 1st of October from 7am. to 2pm. At the Clubhouse. We have established drop off times for you to bring by anything you want to donate and clear out of your home to be sold to benefit the pool operations.  We also have a number to call to have large items picked up for the sale.  We are also in need of some workers to help price items on Thursday evening and sell on Friday.

THE NEED

The pool is in immediate need of a new surface.  This is called marzite. We have requested several bids and we anticipate an expense ranging from $25,000 to $30,000. For best results, resurfacing should be done in the Fall.  We also have to evaluate other pool related repairs that are ongoing.  We have many reasons to start the process of raising monies.  We need your involvement and support in order for us to keep the facilities relating to the pool in good operation.

We also are looking to have major repairs done to the deck chairs as well as purchase some additional to handle the membership growth that we have experienced.

We trust all enjoyed the convenience of the snack shack this summer and we have some new ideas for it as well.  We are making an effort to better our neighborhood for the benefit of all and we really want and need your support and involvement.  Please contact one of the following members if you are interested in helping.

For future communication from the facilities committee we need your e-mail address.  This is the last letter from us you will find on your door.  Please e-mail us your name and e-mail address to

facilities@copperfieldlex.org

Future programs planned:  Hold off buying your Pumpkin for Halloween.  The Facilities committee will be selling Pumpkins in front of the Clubhouse soon.  We will also have our first annual fall festival, which is tentatively scheduled for the 10th of October.  We will also be taking orders for Poinsettias for the holidays as part of our fund raising efforts more information to follow via e-mails or the web site.

Thank you for your support.
